Orbis Idearum invites researchers to submit papers for publication in its regular issues. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis and are not limited to a specific theme. We remind potential authors that the history of ideas (HOI) is an academic specialty with its own object of study and methodology. The traditional task of the historian of ideas is the reconstruction of the development of an idea (typically, a word-and-concept) over time and across different disciplines (philosophy, science, literature, art, etc.). For this reason, HOI is often described as an “inter-discipline.” While this interdisciplinary perspective remains central, we also welcome articles focusing on an idea within a single discipline or even a single doctrine, provided that the author highlights its broader significance for other disciplines and intellectual traditions.
In addition to research articles, we welcome book reviews, literature reviews, and studies on the reception of works that are of particular relevance to the history of ideas. Prospective authors are kindly asked to consult carefully the Editorial Norms and the Methodological Guide, both available via the links provided below this call, in order to ensure that submissions are fully aligned with the mission and standards of the journal. Authors are also requested to prepare their submitted papers using the journal’s templates, which can be downloaded from the links provided below this call.
